A scary thing just happened....
I just pulled this picture up at the nurses' station.......... and nobody got it.
Of the 10 people (of varying ages) that were sitting here, there was only one other person that knew what it was referring to.
I know that there are people in the world that don't find Monty Python as funny as I do, but I never thought I would be surrounded by them in the ER!
Gack!

Ah,
Another Monty Python reference.
I had a patient in the ED last week that said he felt like he was 'going to explode'.
I told the MD that I refrained from offering a 'wafer thin mint'.
He didn't get it.
I get it, laughed my head off when I saw it a few days back on the original site - and showed it to my kid who laughed - then we reinacted the entire scene...
...but since I'm not a health professional or a hypocondriac I avoid ERs as much as humanly possible. Neigh! Neigh! Neigh!
See, I had no clue what it meant because it didn't make any sense. Although before reading what you wrote I did think of Monty Python because those movies don't make any sense either.
Are you sure we're related? I really don't find it funny.... at all.
We are the cats who sayyyyyy..........ni.
Yeah, I didn't get it either. I tend to just blankly stare at things the Brits roll in the aisles over, frown with a tilt of the head...and then change the channel.
hey anonymous, I think it's Ni, Ni!...and your father smells of elderberries.
Ouch. My hubby and I laughed heartily at this one! I guess we're getting old...
I think you need to go medieval on your unenlightened co-workers... No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
The only appropriate course of action would be for you to demand that your co-workers chop down the tallest tree in the forest with....a herring!
monkeygirl, it takes a special mind to appreciate both Monty Python and lolcats.
I can excuse your coworkers for not getting the joke. However, I could never be friends with them . . . .
I'm a huge Python fan, but I'll be honest, when I first saw that LOLcat a couple of days ago it took me a few moments to place it in context.
Maybe your coworkers were just busy/distracted/temporarily brain dead?
My cat's name is Tim the Enchanter from same movie. I think it takes a certain type of person to appreciate that humor....and those people are usually drawn to healthcare...go figure.
Every so often a patient who is being prepped for anesthesia hears the pulse-ox beeping and asks, "Is that the machine that goes 'Ping'?"
There aren't too many nurses that get it, unfortunately.
I was going to send this reply by way of European Swallow, but it would have been too heavy. So I'll type it instead.
I laughed hard at this, and then promptly sent it to all my friends!
...and of course, we must chuckle at the scores of patients who insist that their laceration doesn't need sutures because "it's just a flesh wound"!
I loved that when I saw it on the lol cat site too. That phrase is actually my 'amusing quip' for an online forum that only allows quips and not avatars.
We love MP (along with quotes from "The Princess Bride..) and that would go over well here. The thing that still makes us laugh ourselves sick is on the Holy Grail DVD we have...the Knights of the Round Table song done with Lego characters.
'Sir Robin ran away, Sir Robin ran away.....'
BEST. MOVIE. EVER!
you work with a bunch of dorks.
RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! Poor dumb bastards...
I love it!!!! I not only got the reference, the boxer dog looks just like ours!!
Thanks for the giggle.
That's pretty sad that nobody got it. Even my teenage boys understand it. Of course, I've taught them about the finer things in life...
Are any of your co-workers 40 year old men who ride ATV's around the cul-de-sac? That would explain a lot.
Knight of Ni: We are now no longer the Knights Who Say "Ni"!
Other Knights of Ni: Ni! Shh! Shh!
Knight of Ni: We are now the Knights who say "Ekky-ekky-ekky-ekky-z'Bang, zoom-Boing, z'nourrrwringmm".
:)
we are no longer the knights who say ni, we are now the knights that say "icky icky icky zoom buck tang...."
I seriously judge the character of a person on their opinion and knowledge of Monty Python.
Just fart in their general direction.:)
