Nursing Home Dichotomy, Part II

Transport Dichotomy:

Tonight at 2300, one of our local nursing homes sent us a LOMFDGB (Little Old Man Fall Down Go Boom) with an obvious shoulder deformity that ended up being a fracture/dislocation. They sent him in by POV with his daughter.

Tonight at 0400, another nursing home sent in a LOL (Little Old Lady, not Laughing Out Loud) with a plugged PEG tube. They sent her in on a 9-1-1 ambulance. At 4:00 in the morning. For a feeding tube.

and then people will complain if the ambulance is not exactly at the scene when an accident happens. it's because it's wasting time with lol with blocked peg.

Maybe she was hungry. Did you think of that?

Yes, older people get hungry at odd hours and usually dont sleep well at night.

LOLOL=Little Old Lady on Linoleum.

Today we had the ambulance call for the diabetic end-stage renal disease patient with no legs, no arms, gastroparesis who vomitted once and felt better afterwards with no fever and no other complaints.

Um. He's a sick guy who has gastroparesis and renal failure...he's going to barf once in awhile. Use thine common sense, oh nursing home.

At least the patient was nice, despite all his problems.
