Dear Lord.

Somebody emailed me this article and asked how I'd like to be working when this rolled through the door.

I wouldn't.

I do have one queston, though: What color were the sweatpants?

I would guess, pee-yellow, with a shit-brown streak and trim.

WOOHOOO for Ness City! *says the former Kansas that travelled to these ridiculous places on a routine basis*

No doubt if they're not MR, they're so high on fucking meth made out of crop fertilizer and Sudafed that they were just 'looking for something" and staying the frig away from one another.

But anyways. Can you tell I miss KS? LOL

I can't imagine the smell in that trailer. And I don't think I want to.

brown, crusted to the consistency of particle board, and a wee bit stinky.

No compartment syndrome.

No PE.

No hyperkalemia.

Was she taking coumadin and not having regular blood work?

Do drugs (meth or others) provide some sort of protection against the complications of sitting like this for 2 hours, never mind 2 years?

Does she have some sort of genetic defect that might be beneficial (clot-wise, definitely not for anything above the neck)?

If true OMG!

But Rogue Medic brought a few questions that make me wonder here.

While I'm sure this story is reported in good faith, something smells and it may be more then the patient!

Be interesting to see if this one gets followed up.

Ahhhhhhhhh. . . This brings back the memory of the day I made a public health home visit on a referral and found a lady on the sofa where she had been for a period of months. Her family couldn't get her up--brought her food to her. Ewwwww! Warm summer day. It really smelled bad.

I just hope there was more than one bathroom in that home.

According to FoxNews there was a second bathroom in the house.. and there's a pic in that article of the mobile home.

Best quote from the Seattle Times article:

"Authorities said they did not know if she was mentally or physically disabled." Umm.. anyone that sits on a toilet for 2 years most likely is a few fries short of a happy meal..

That story even made our papers, here across the pond.

I had a lady in the ER once that "went to bed 10 years ago" and never got up. She was brought in by a female relative that cared for her. Chief complaint=tired.
Her legs were all shriveled up, had NO bed sores and was actually very well hydrated. So much so that she kept demanding that I hold their makeshift urine spout for her....No not today.... She was a shrew to her relative that cared for her. A total whack job.
