Feels so good....
Do you ever have a day that is so long that when you finally get to lay down to go to sleep the only thing you can think is, "Oh my God, this bed feels so good!" And then you're asleep before you can really enjoy it?
Yeah, me, too.

it's called being "post call" ;-)
The only joy of being on call, or of finishing that first night shift after being up all day the day before, is the WONDERFUl sleep at the end of it...
That is a grest feeling.
Uh... yeah.
Like, every day.
I am so with Amy on that
Busy, busy night, finished well late, how did I drive home ? Great feeling indeed. Try one of them special foam tempur beds, they are the biz.
Almost every day.
Yes-Yes-Yes- some of my most honest and meaninful prayers were- Thank you God for this awesome Mattress and these sheets and comforterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
He understands and likes those kinds of prayers. Cause He knows their from the heart and you worked your butt off that day. Can you say Butt and talk about God in the same uhhhhhhhklnlm zdlbvkljsbl/kb lsb .
Every day since I went back to school......
no. i hear as i'm trying to sleep...
"doc, the patient in 5 wants more dilaudid"
or
"i'm sorry ma'am, but i can not explain why that little spot is on your elbow, and no, i do not believe it was a brown recluse bite and no, i'm not giving you pain medicine or antibiotics"
and
"doc, the family in 9 wants to talk to you again" (for the eighth time in ten minutes)
i think it's george bush's fault.
a pediatrician friend adds "the beeping of the ICU monitors" to your list, 911
(and EVERYthing is W's fault)
Perhaps too tangential, but my mind went immediately to a poem heard on NPR some years ago:
Forever and a Day
By Heather Lachman
Grade 4
I want to go home.
The day is long.
It has been long ever since
I woke up.

Definitely can relate! Especially after getting called in during my 11pm-7am call THEN having to work my regular shift the next day.
