Went to the Zoo Yesterday
The step-kid's birthday was Saturday. Yup, 7/7/07. Heard about it all day. Anyway, we went to the zoo yesterday. Here's a few pictures.

Meerkats freak me out. I'm just sayin'.
No, you may not bring your CZ next time, dear. Stop saying that so loud or the keepers will have us arrested.
I think this made the trip worthwhile.

Delurking for the first time for this reason: scarily familiar looking zoo. Really. I saw those first couple pics and just about jumped out of my chair thinking: "Isn't that [my city's] zoo? Interesting.
I hated, hated, hated..taking the step-monsters to the zoo, the aquarium, etc... They always rushed through every exhibit, whined about Daddy not buying them everything they wanted and followed up with the piece de resistance "Mommy always _____ (fill in the blank) better than you!". Gah!
Me?? I'd start thinking -Hmmm....those alligators sure look hungry and oh look, the fence isn't all that high......
You're doing good though - that you actually found a moment that "made the trip worthwhile". :) Very good indeed!
Oh, I love that zoo! We live right by the DC zoo, but your is MUCH cooler and well-designed They were just getting the giraffes when we were there last year.
Joey and Andy both love zoos. We went on Saturday. Tiantian is getting all grown up, so there's fewer people trying to see him, so we gave it a go. Actually ended up spending most of the day in the Reptile House, but that's what I get for spawning boys...
