Now that's some nice shootin'!

So this 32-year old crazy guy in Colorado said that he was "the Emperor" and tried to take over the Governor's office.

Got shot dead by a state trooper.

"Trooper Jay Hemphill, a 12-year member of the state patrol, shot Snyder twice in the head and once in the chest, officials said."
I'm impressed.

And here I thought that the Emperor just had no clothes....

Fairy tales have gotten a lot more deadly lately.

Kudos to Jay Hemphill for saving his life and the Governor's.

Suicide by cop, y'all. Even a crayzee knows not to bring a gun into the governor's dominion.

No disrespect monkey girl but people with severe mental illness need supportive services and funding to make it happen. It's all fine and dandy that we get to call the cop who killed him a hero but that doesn't solve the problem. It's actually pretty inhumane considering this guy and his family most likely went through hell and back trying to get mental health services and, in large part because our system sucks, he was off his meds.

And in swoops the liberal with "this wouldn't have happened if there'd been funding." Funding is the solution to all problems, kinda like the trouble with public schools. They've been "increasing funding" for years and still everyone's illiterate.

Part of being mentally ill is poor insight, including, from time to time, poor insight into the necessity of taking one's pills or even that you're mentally ill. My bipolar friend, who is "well-funded", will go on these funks where she thinks people [mainly dudes] will dislike her if she's "mentally ill", so she'll stop taking her pills on her own. And, oops, she's still bipolar.

I don't what resources he did or didn't utilize, but we have some pretty decent services available here in Colorado. People fall through the cracks, and bad things like this happen. It was "nice shootin'" in that no one else was hurt, but I doubt the officer feels like he did anything heroic by needing to kill a psychotic man. He did what he had to do, and we are grateful for that.

That was a crazy day. I was just getting into my second job when that happened. It's sad how often things like this happen, but I am thankful that that trooper had good aim.
