If this is the case, my kids are in BIG trouble....
Interesting post. I am an only child but seemed to be a mixture of 2 of them.
Then why is my brother so much stupider than I am?
I would also have to venture a thought that if, say, the THIRD child used more of their brain capacity than the brilliant first-born, does that nullify any and all extra IQ points that said first-born may have? I think maybe....
I guess either I'm a freak of nature, then, or my brother has just blocked off most of his IQ. Because mine is 140. Which means he's like a truck-drivin' genius or something.
And, well, no insult intended to my oldest, but my third has both of her sisters far outclassed.
My 9 older siblings would most likely agree with this study. My IQ hits the brick wall at 137. I submit however, that I learned more in my first 5 years than any child should ever be subjected to. As far as the theory that older siblings have to teach younger siblings...thus enhancing their own IQs, I retort that it would only apply to lessons that were actually valid. I don't think getting your little brother to like a metal pole in the middle of winter actually does much to raise your IQ.
After my younger brother tested in the genius range as a teenager, my mom forbade me from ever getting an IQ test. I'm not sure if she was looking out for his interests or mine.
