Foley catheter woes

I was drawing grody pee out of the port of a nursing home foley with a needle, you know, the ones without a luer lock for pee removal, and the gorked old lady kicked the syringe, causing the needle to scratch across the back of my thumb.

Great. Now I'm gonna get a UTI in my thumb.

Sorry about your Unmentionable Thumb Injury. At least you will be able to use the results in your own treatment.OK, that really is n't any consolation. I hope you do not have any complications from this.

GEEEE--ROSS!

I set a large container of pus-filled pee down on the doctors' station desk as I waited for a label to print. A new intern said, "What the heck is that?"

I smiled sweetly and said, "A pina colada!" And all the attendings at the desk started chanting, "Drink! Drink! Drink!"

She was a little confused.
