Anonymous internet angst

Some of you were around for the strange affair of "The Dawn". She created a blog just to tell the world how much she hated me because I was an evil nurse. She took it down after much fun.

Now there is "Busymom345". She's a fibromyalgeur who has created a blog just to tell the world what an evil nurse I am. You know, because I don't believe in fairies and fibromyalgia and such.

That's two blogs that have been created so far just to talk about what an evil nurse I am. Created, of course, by people who don't know me. But that's totally beside the point.

How many people on the internet hate you?

Sadly no-one on the internet hates me that I know of. But I am striving everyday to be just like you when I grow up!

Here's an article that pretty much summarizes what I (and many other nurses etc) think fibro is about.

Oh, and I think it's well-documented who hates ME on the Internet!

CrankyProf said...

Oh, but MonkeyGirl, I ADORE your evil and unsympathetic monkey ass.

If you lived closer, I'd go out bar-hopping with you and we could inflict ourselves on an unsuspecting public.

Just remember that douchebags and asshats abound.

a lot. and since i agree with you about 'my fibro' then add yours to my list and i am winning.

Isn't that kinda stupid, she is spending her online time complaining about you??!! I have been reading your blog for quite some time now and I don't see anything that seems rude or mean mean enough for someone to dedicate a whole blog to ya ???

Apparently she feels that judging YOU is exempt from her judgement ban. Or am I the only one who read it that way?

I don't think anyone hates me, that I know of. Then again, my readership consists of all med students, so we commiserate in each other's misery.

You, Monkey Girl, are the Queen.
I have lots of people that internet hate me, simply because of what I drive. That, and I say "Fuck" a lot. But no one hates me for a more noble cause than Fibro freaks.

Sarah said...

I don't have any cyber haters :(

Or if I do, they keep it to themselves. Yeah. Right. Like anybody who disliked my writing that much could possibly be quiet about it.

Flashing light walmart shoes???

Lame.

If I had her symptoms to the degree she describes, I would not accept the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I just wouldn't.

Also, are you buying the gallbladder story? I'm sure there is more to this story that we aren't hearing. (there always is.) GB is fairly easy to r/o isn't it, if the patient presents with usual symptoms and is not in the ED frequently with various c/o pain? I just think there is more to that story.

I'm quite jealous, MG. Yes, people hate me. But not enough to start a whole blog about it. Probably because the people who hate me are too busy nodding off to get around to starting a blog.

You have the wit and sarcasm I wish I had. I dealt with my own chronic pain issues which landed me in the ER way too many times to count. I didn't want drugs, but relief from the pain. (The guy who invented motor cortex stimulation should be made a living saint.)

I dealt with enough nurses in the ER to know that I could NEVER do your job. I enjoy reading your blog because it seems as if you can separate yourself from the job and laugh sometimes at the situations you find yourself in.

Gee, wonder if she's read TAP's piece on it yet?

http://www.theangrypharmacist.com/archives/2008/05/fibromyalgia_is_the_new_low_ba.html

Most of the patients we get in the pharmacy for "Fibromyalgia" are holding scripts for either vicodin, soma, or both.

I'm pretty sure that the more people there are that hate you on the internet, the more famous you are. Congrats!!

The only reason she posts about you is that she's probably awash in restraining orders in real life and has no other outlet. She is to be pitied, not for some bogus case of whineitis, but for the malfunctional personality evidenced in the blatantly phony blogs.

That's only because the Methadonians are too high to form a viable support group.

Wow...you're as cynical about the emergency medical business as I am. Hopefully, if I'm a good little asshole, one day someone will make a whole blog about me also. Congratulations, you've made it.

Yay! AD's back!

Missed your snark, buddy.

After my latest post I may have some haters too! I can only hope:)

Awesome. At least it's one way to know people are reading your blog!

Gee no one hates me, that I know of. Perhaps I should do a Fibro song...then maybe....

I tried to leave a comment last night but couldn't.

All this hullabaloo...remember the old Sine-Aid Society commercials from way back? I blame this on that. Even then I thought that anything that allows people to get together to grouse about their illness and focus on it could only be a bad thing.

How one spends his/her time and what they focus on shows the world what their priorities are and who they are as individuals. When someone has nothing better to do with their time and limited energy than to start a blog complaining about someone else's venting...only to argue with nearly every commenter on there and is just so sure that everything out there is all about them, and then calls that "support", Heh. I shake my head. Support is not about sitting around whining. Support is about developing positive coping skills and facing the truth, because it's the truth that leads to positive life change, not the telling of what one wants to hear. Unfortunately, so many self-focused people out there don't get that, choosing instead to denigrate those who simply tire of the whining, refusing to accept any positive life change because it might take away their whole reason for living: complaining.

Don't know if you've heard of Heather
Armstrong, she posts under "Dooce" about her family, mormoms (her family is still, she no longer is) and her husband and child. Many of her commenters take issue with her posts about her daughter, have dx her daughter with Asperger's and Autism, and think that her child will hate/rebel against/get several tats/join a satanic cult because Dooce has written about her on the Internet.

Dooce was on segment four of the Today show the other day in a segment they did about Mommy Bloggers, and Kathie Lee Gifford, who claimed to "be afraid of computers", evidently got enough info about the blog to comment that "She is REVILED!!!".

I think the whole internet community is fascinating. A bunch of people who don't know one another becoming involved with what bloggers choose to share, and many who comment become personally offended at the content. It's like they forgot the whole point, that it's all, like, anonymous. And isn't that what makes the internet great?

Monkey Girl, you are the greatest, and secretly I love your Fibro posts most of all, because the comments are so...heartfelt.

The article from nurse K is fabulous! I'm having some "health issues" that I am quite convinced are going to turn out to be "stress." Some folks deal with stress- and stress-related syndromes- better than others.

I feel bad enough that the doctor has decided to put me on some kind of tranquilizer thing. I'd be devastated if she decided what I needed was a powerful painkiller.

And I certainly would not park myself at the ER for it. Have real FM? Go see your regular doctor for it.

But that's just me.

Now you've caused me to have to get all huffy about it and write about it on MY blog. I agree with you, Monkey Girl; I despise all these prescription drug-addicted losers, abusing the EMS/hospital systems. However, I think the problem stems from FDA regulation causing people to have to make this shit up in order to get their fix, wasting the time and resources of medical professional all across our great, "free" country.

Bertha said...

Hey, you should be happy--it means you have people READING your blog! I've never had a fan club for mine, I think my readership peaked at four people.

CrankyProf said...

Look at it this way....she can't be that fucking busy if she's got time to create a blog solely to refute you, you wicked, beastly Monkey!

"I have had so many tests done and I don't want to do that anymore. I will have to do my own research and figure out this on my own. Hm, wonder where I can get a lab to run tests? I guess I will have to learn to draw my own blood. After all, I wouldn't want to trouble anyone else."

Once again....the lab tests...UGH!

Nobody hates me, yet. I'm jealous!

i think the only one who hates me is my son's dad, because he doesn't like me telling the world what a shit he is. Whoops, that was my outside voice again.

Really, I think you should be so proud, Monkey Girl. Your haters are spreading your anti-fibro message for you, as well as bumping up your site meter. . .less typing and less tiring for your fingers. :)

Angry Nurse said...

Always measure your success by the rancor of your detractors!

That said I'm impressed! I haven't even gotten a decent death threat let alone two blogs dedicated to hating me!

Anonymous said...

I've been hated on some, but I can only aspire to have blogs devoted to hating me. Truly you have made it on the internet if you have a devoted following of haters.

MOJITOGIRL said...

Congratulations!

Isn't it a wonderful thing when people create a blog to contradict your opinions?

You should run for office.

I'm jealous....

My mother always said, "It's ok if people hate you because then you know you are capable of provoking great emotion. Be more disappointed if they IGNORE YOU...."

Maybe Busymom345 needs to read this article:
http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_News/2008/05/16/scientist_smiling_can_hurt_your_health/2772/

It explains why MonkeyGirl and others need to continue blogging as it benefits their own personal health. Perhaps the real Deborah Peel should read it too.

I'm not yet in the medical field and I only have one person online that hates me. I feel so inadequate. :)

KLK said...

Monkeygirl, I feel so left out. I don't know of anyone on the internet that hates me.
Then again, my readership probably just isn't large enough for that. :-)

OK, I finally looked up fibromyalgia.

From what I saw I'm buying your argument. It sounded to me like a diagnosis which has no purpose other than to give a doctor something to label a patient so he or she won't sue said doctor.

Whatever,

Karen

RehabNurse said...

Aww, MG, those two posts that busymom345 posted are not really much bile and misery.

I think she just needs a little Maalox.

Yes, as a rehab nurse it's all about bowel, bladder and skin. Methinks her bowel's a little backed up with all those meds and little terrors at home at school.

Kat said...

LMAO! It's tempting to write about my peeves. Just think of what an honor it is - you are such a good writer, *2* people so far have made a blog. Keep up the good work!

Nhaters on the web for me that I know of. But I have not been blogging very long.So ther is still hope for me yet.

Unknown said...

Sorry...I'm reading this well after the happening, but is being an Evil Nurse a bad thing??

No matter how many hate you, I absolutely adore you! Your sarcasm is magnifi-fantabulous. And how do you say so much in so few words? You're wonderful.
