Night Shift Fitness: Damn You, Celeste!
I've been on a diet for almost three weeks. Three weeks of starving misery.
M-I-S-E-R-Y.
So I've lost almost 10 lbs. I'm still not sure if it's worth it.
The only thing I have to look forward to is Cheat Day. Cheat Day falls on either Saturday or Sunday, depending on my work schedule. I spend all week planning, revising, re-planning and re-revising my menu for Cheat Day. It gets me through the M-I-S-E-R-Y.
My friend Celeste told me a week and a half ago (right before the first Cheat Day) that I should enjoy my cheat days while I can, because in a few weeks, my body won't be able to handle the food I eat on Cheat Day.
I said, "Nah, I'll be fine. I have a cast iron stomach. I can eat anything."
Saturday night I had a Brownie Sundae while I watched Penn State get their asses handed to them by Ohio State. (Note to Ohio State fans: November 17th. You're going down. Go Blue!)
I was sick as a dog all day Sunday. My stomach felt like it had an alien living (or maybe dying) in it.
Damn you, Celeste!

Having a family party that evening (celebrating a major milestone birthday for father) & all family members have been warned that I'm not leaving my house until the BIG GAME is over.

I did a diet last summer (lost 35 pounds and have kept it off) with the same philosophy. I was angelic Monday-Friday, ate whatever I darn well pleased on Saturday and then felt rotten on Sunday.
Did I ever learn? Well, yes, and my eating habits improved overall.
But brownie sundaes? Mmmm. Worth being sick for those.
This is exactly why I was never successful at Weight Watchers. I wanted to be full enough from each meal or mid-meal snack that I *didn't* think about food. Instead, I felt my whole day was about planning what I was going to eat that and every other day.
However! Congratulations on the weight loss. It's never easy.

Sound like Body-for-Life, and how my body reacted to the cheat day on that plan.
I lost about 12 pounds on it, and got knocked up.
Gained weight again (not just due to pregnancy), went on NutriSystem, got tired of eating what tasted like fish food (bleah), and started counting calories.
I do that, and take about three meals off per week. I also keep my meal calories low so I can have my in-between meals contain nice things like Reeses when I want them to.
Eh, it's working. 55 lbs off in the past 14 months.
But God, I hate Lean Cuisine now.
