Book Prayer

Dear God,

Please let the Harry Potter Fanatics read their books quickly so I don't have to hear about it anymore.

It's a book, people.

Yes, I like Harry Potter.

No, I'm not dropping 25 clams to read a book in a day.

It's a book, people.

It's not like knowing the ending is going to ruin your life.

It's not like it's going to have any effect on the real world.

It's a book, people.

There's millions of them out there.

Please stop talking about this one and just go read the damn thing.

Thank you,
MonkeyGirl

God wants to know, what's more important. Harry Potter, or Barry Bonds?
You only get one wish MG, make it a good one!

I beg to differ... I know it drives me crazy too, but anyone who can get kids to read like this is ok in my book. I just don't want to hear about it every 15 f-ing minutes.

Hahahaha...at 8:00am there were STACKS of those books at KMart for $18.99. Six bucks cheaper than those midnight fruitcakes spent at midnight. I stopped and read the last three chapters and epilogue for free.

At dinner, someguy walks in with the book under his arm. "Want me to tell you how it ends?" I offered. He looks at me horrified. "NONONO!" he says. "You mean you read it already?" "Nope," I confessed, "Just the last bits while standing in KMart this morning." He looked at me as if I'd lost my mind, and I returned the look. Yeah. BTW all the fav charactors live so they can become regulars at the amusement park.

Who is this Harry Potter? Some hirsute ceramic maker? Where can I find this book? Is it easy to find? Pray tell, what is it about?

I got a midnight copy at a local store, not a big chain. I paid $20. Target had them the next day for $17- but I think it was worth $3 to wake my husband at one in teh morning saying, "I have the BOOOOOOOOOO-ooooooooooK!!!"

Its not like I stayed up special or waited hours or anything. I happened to be up, and had the book in hand in 15 minutes.

I love small booksellers.

It isn't even well-written.

Of course, most of what is written isn't well-written...

Read the first one and couldn't stand to read anymore of the series.

Mine is still on its way, and I will read it if it's not too close to my next set of exams. And I agree with the poster who said it's not that well-written.

She rips off a lot of ideas, and the classical and mythical allusions are well-done. But she doesn't even come close to some of the stuff that has been written (Narnia, for example).

She was just lucky in that her ideas were imaginative, and she is a lot better than most of the drivel that passes for children's literature these days.

I'm with you, mielikki. Frankly, I soooooo couldn't care less which cretin can dribble a ball down a court a tenth of a second faster than whichever other cretin.
