It's not hot.

We had thunderstorms all day yesterday, and all night last night.

There's more forecast for all day today, and all night tonight.

The Home Weather Station on the wall in my TV room says the humidity outside is 80%.

I'm drowning just breathing.

My husband just opened all of the windows in the house because "it's not hot" and he wants to "let in some fresh air".

My forearms are sticking to the desk as I'm typing.

I fully understand the phrase "But it's a dry heat" more right now, this very second, than I ever have before, or may ever again.

Oh I miss thunderstorms! But not the humidity that comes after.

My husband pulls the same thing with the windows. I gentley remind him that when he does that kind of thing how much our electric bill will go up when I turn the a/c back on.

My son has asthma and outside things seem to trigger it. I use that as my excuse to have the air on all summer when there is even the hint it may be hot or humid. If you tell me it is not necessary, I will plug my ears and pretend I can not hear you. I hate humidity! I have always been sort of wimpy when it comes to that, but now I have an excuse.

And I on the other hand LOVE to have the windows opened. I like the hot. I like the breeze and the crickets. Alas, if I open the windows my kids eyes swell almost shut and I use twice as much albuterol.

My mom uses my allergies and asthma as excuses to keep the air always on, and could not wait for me to return from school so she would have a reason to put the air on... then guess what I do the firts night I'm home, I go and open my window! I got so used to sleeping with my window open, I couldn't fall asleep with it closed!

It's nice and cool today in sunny California! And when it gets hot...it is dry heat. And only lasts for a few hours (usually!)

Around here, we get 100% humidity WITHOUT rain- that's fun. You fel like a fish. Its especially fun in teh fall when teh nights get chilly on top of that. :P

I open all the windows in April and close them in October (and open them back up when the steam radiators work too well), and when the temperature dips I dream of snow storms at night It was warm last night and I dreamed of the beach and giraffes, but a front is coming through and it'll be in the low 80's tomorrow. Ahhhhhh.

For the record, that whole "dry heat" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

After all, a blast furnace is a dry heat, too.

Summer in Phoenix (the paragon of "dry heat") is akin to taking two hair dryers, putting them both on "hi", and directing the blowing air at your face.

For 4 months.

My husband does it too... not only must he open all the windows, but he designs an elaborate system of fans strategically placed around the house to (in his mind) create some sort of whole house air flow. The 13 fan system surely uses more electricity than the air conditioning. I don't get it.
