Cardiac Arrest

I swear to GOD, if I hear one more person say that Michael Jackson appears to have died from "cardiac arrest", I'm going to have a stroke.

Of course he died from "cardiac arrest"! Everyone dies from cardiac arrest.

Farrah Fawcett? Cardiac arrest.

Ed McMahon? Yup. Cardiac arrest again.

Eventually, cardiac arrest is going to get us all. Drugs, cancer, and heart disease just help it get us faster.

Jeez.

Heh.

I heard he choked on a small bone.

And another rumor has it that he isn't really dead. He's actually over in the pediatrics ward, having a stroke.

Welcome back, even if it's just temporary!

I heard they were melting down all the plastic in him to make legos so that little boys could play with him for a change

Oh MG, you wrote the exact same thing I was thinking. And a tentative, joyful welcome back!

Saying someone died of "cardiac arrest" is like asking what you had for dinner last night and answering, "Food." It's a lawyer's answer: 100% accurate, and completely useless.

I too am driven insane by this sort of wording.

Of course, over in RT land, we were all wondering whether intubating him was like intubating the plastic dummy heads...

Nice to see you back!

Y'know, the feeling gets worse when you work in a coroner's office, and every week you have to tell a bunch of doctors that no, cardiac arrest cannot go on the death certificate, and that yes, we would like to know what ACTUALLY CAUSED his death. You would have thought that would hve been somewhere in med school...
